A leading book retailer in Ireland is modernizing its e-commerce platform by replacing an outdated PHP-based system with a cutting-edge, data-driven solution. The new system will optimize operations by integrating supplier data, enhancing product listings, and improving order fulfillment.
As a Lead Developer, you will play a key role in defining the technical strategy, driving critical development initiatives, and leading a high-performing remote team. This is an opportunity to work with modern technologies, large-scale data processing, and real-time analytics while making a meaningful impact on business operations.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead the technical strategy for a data-driven platform integrating vendor data, marketplace APIs, and internal e-commerce systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align the platform with business and technical requirements.
- Oversee project planning, milestones, and resource allocation.
- Build and manage a remote development team, fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Take a hands-on role in early development, focusing on Big Data processing, data pipelines, real-time syncing, and pricing algorithms.
- Ensure seamless system integration for scalability and high performance.
- Continuously improve scalability, reliability, and efficiency to support high-volume, multi-channel operations.

Cloud & Infrastructure: Kubernetes, Docker, GitLab CI/CD, Terraform

Requirements
โ Proven experience leading complex software projects from inception to delivery.
โ Expertise in building and managing high-performing, distributed teams in a remote-first environment.
โ 7+ years of Python development with a focus on Big Data processing and transformation.
โ Strong knowledge of cloud-native technologies (Kubernetes, Docker).
โ Experience with workflow orchestration (Temporal, Airflow) and data integration (Airbyte, EDI).
โ Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business strategies.
โ Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and marketplace APIs (Amazon, eBay) is a plus.
โ Experience with PHP and JavaScript is a plus.
โ English Level: Advanced (C1).
